Kiera made a determination that she would follow the advice that she was given in Relief Society General Conference to pay tithing first and foremost. There was a very powerful story about tithing that touched Kiera very much.

These last few weeks have been very financially challenging for her to pay tithing each week, because we needed the money so much but she felt that it was more important to pay it. It seems that every week I earned extra spiffs or made sales or something that made it possible to survive. She always hears people saying, "How can you afford to pay tithing," and others saying, "How can you afford not to." Kiera now feels strongly that she can not afford to not pay it.
